Premier Patterns and Castings are high quality pattern makers, mould makers, cnc machinists and metal casting suppliers, where traditional methods and modern technology work hand in hand to produce precision results.

The firm, which is a traditional Black Country engineering firm, with a wide range of skills and capabilities, was established by Andrew Timmins in 1996, as Premier Patterns, later becoming Premier Patterns and Castings Ltd in response to the demand for high quality castings from their customers.

The firm has continued in family ownership with Andrew being supported by his wife Mandy as Finance Director. Over the years they have carried out a steady programme of investment in the latest state of the art technology to support their traditional engineering skills and craftsmanship.

Among these investments, was a fantastic CNC Robot Arm 7 Axis machine with a rotary table. Andrew explained that the machine has broadened the scope of their offering, especially to their long-established customers, many from major firms in the high tech automotive, aerospace, marine and steam locomotive sectors. The latest investment is a new cnc machining centre, Doosan DNM 5700, to help with the machining of castings and components from stock materials. The company is nothing if not versatile, their expertly skilled craftsmen and up-to- date cad cam technology enables them
to produce a huge variety of items from boat hull plugs for the marine industry, art models, theatre prop and sets, polystyrene patterns, traditional wood patterns and models for castings for press tools for the Automotive and Aerospace industries.

The combination of skills, experience and modern technology means that they are able to undertake a wide range of projects in an equally wide range of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous castings, Polystyrene, EPS, Pu Foam, plastazote LD45, LD33 Foam, polyurethane, steel and other materials. They also have a wealth of experience in general wood / ureol patternmaking for when larger
batches of castings are required.

The company also offers quality Cad Cam services, including Autocad, Autodesk, Powermill and Powershape, producing modelling and machining from client’s own 2D designs in varying formats, or printed up in larger copies by their HP Designjet plotter for display or presentation purposes. Premier Patterns and Castings Ltd has developed quite a following amongst heritage steam train restoration community, thanks to their work on a heritage steam train, the LMS Patriot Warrior, where modern pattern making was used to make polystyrene patterns for casting their first cylinder; a method that proved very successful, saving this new exciting project thousands of pounds. The company now find themselves making certified patterns, and supplying castings to steam locomotive projects
throughout the UK and beyond.

When we spoke to Andrew, he was confidently optimistic about future work continuing to build up post brexit and pandemic crisis due to their history of their versatility. He did tell us that their export orders are holding up well, despite Brexit, and that a steady increase in patterns/moulds for concrete products, especially construction furnaces was boding well for the construction and civil engineering sectors.

Whatever your engineering requirements speak to Premier Patterns and Castings for expert advice and a competitive price.
